Program Note
Ga Soo-do conspires to take over power with the aid of the little king and in order to rid of his opponent, Song Won is falsely charged with a crime. The only way Song Won can live is to receive the King′s direct pardon in the form of a document. To bring the document into the town, Song Won′s wife and daughter disguise themselves and travel to get it. On their way they meet a mysterious man who comes to their aid as they encounter the warriors who are trying to stop them. This film presents to the viewers some classy action sequences through the brilliant mise-en-scenes mainly composed of black and red and graceful body motions using wire techniques. Chung, already recognized for his modern style action, displayed his skills in making traditional heroic films side by side with other major directors already employed by the Shaw Brothers, such as Chang Cheh and King Fu. This film was imported by Asia Film as a joint production and will be screened to the audiences in the Korean version. (Cho Young-jung)
