Program Note

Shot from May to July 1996, six citizens look at Hong Kong before the handover. The anecdotes of a British civil servant, a South African Journalist, a Chinese musician, and an Indian businessman weave an account of an ambiguous society struggling to come to teams with architectural chaos, a booming economy, and an uncertain future.

Luc Schaedler

Luc Schaedler was born in Zurich, Switzerland and studied film, history and visual anthropology at the University of Zurich. He has worked with Cinema Xenix since 1986 as a programmer and later received a master’s degree in visual anthropology. He’s worked in film as a researcher, camera operator and editor.
