Paul McGuigan′s The Acid House is a surreal triptych adapted by "Trainspotting" author Irvine Welsh. "The Granton Star Cause": The first of the trilogy is a black comedy of revenge, football and religion that come together in one explosive story. Boab Coyle thinks he has it all. But everything goes wrong when he is dumped by his team, his parents and his girlfriend. "A Soft Touch": The second part is a story of love and betrayal with Johnny as the "soft touch." Johnny married the pregnant Catriona, but the is soon abused by her and her new boyfriend. Johnny soon sees that he has learned nothing from his ordeals. "The Acid House": The final film is a surreal comic story about marriage, babies and excess of chemical abuse. On one fateful night, the lives of two very different couples are to change. Coco is an acid addict and Kirsty is his long-suffering girlfriend, and Rory and Jenny are a middle-class couple expecting their first child. But when Coco overdoses on an acid trip, his mind transfers to the body of Rory and Jenny′s newborn baby Tom.

Best known for his documentaries, Pual McGuigan has won awards for such works as Walk on the Wild Side, Passengers and Football, Faith and Flutes. He won the Best Newcomer Award at the 1998 RTS Awards in London for The Granton Star Cause, the first part of The Acid House Trilogy. The Acid House is McGuigan’s first drama.
