Back in the good ol′ days, Grga Pittich and Zaria committed their first robbery together and made their last jail break together. Now both in their eighties, Pittich is the gypsy Godfather and Zaria is a successful businessman. Pittich′s main predicament these days is finding a suitable mate for his grandson Grga Major. Meanwhile, Zaria′s son Matko borrows money from Pittich to procure a black market deal with the gangster Dadan, but Matko gets taken in. To appropriately recompense Dadan, Matko must marry his tiny sister, Ladybug. But on the big day, Ladybug runs off and runs into Grga Major, and she gets a chance for genuine romance. Emir Kusturica had declared publicly that he would never maker another film after being attacked by the press for his last film, Underground which won the Palme d′Or at Cannes 1995. But with the support from his production team who planned a small film to convince him direct again, Kustrica returns to us with Black Cat, White Cat.
