Masao comes to Osaka from the countryside and goes to cram school to attempt yet another try at passing the university exams. At a convenience store where he works to make ends meet, he meets all kinds of people but genuine human relationships are absent from his life, leaving him with a sense of alienation. His daily activities - watching videos, playing video games, and batting practice - do nothing to make things better. While Director Mihara hopes for a Japan where "positive feelings" exist, the vision is ultimately a skeptical one
