Three Floors, Nanni Moretti′s fourtheenth film, and the first since My Mother (2015), is also the first film he has adapted instead rather than writing. The stage play by Israeli writer Eshkol Nevo has been relocated to Rome. The film, which begins with an unexpected car accident, follows the stories of three families living in a middle-class apartment. Half of the movie depicts the first five years and another five years in the second half. They spend ten years seeking forgiveness for their faults, and some are forgiven and others are not. Nanni Moretti empties and fills their poor soul room with mise en scène one after another with mastery.
