Program Note
Sue leaves her small town behind to, like many others before her, to try her luck in New York. Single, attractive and just over thirty, she finds a new life in Manhattan. Indiscriminate in her choices, Sue carries on a series of depthless relationships. Her life in New York takes a downward turn when she loses her job and is unable to make ends meet. Then the ever-persistent Sue meets Ben, a young journalist who seems to genuinely like her. But when he is suddenly sent away to India, Sue′s life is once again sent on a downward course, and she is forced to move into a run-down hotel occupied by prostitutes and social misfits. Although it′s an all too familiar story in New York, Sue′s story is quite different from all the others.
