Program Note
Tereza， a sixteen year old girl， is highly imaginative and spontaneously playful. One day she has to leave the institution where she learned to be a seamstress. She loses her feeling of security as she leaves a world where she understood everything and where decisions had been made for her.

Martin Sˇulík
One of Slovakia’s most prominent filmmakers, Martin Sˇulík was born in Zˇilina and graduated from Bratislava’s Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts. He directs for television, theater, and serves as head of the directing department at his alma mater. His filmography includes [Staccato](1986), [Tenderness](1991), [The Garden](1995), [Prague Stories](1999), [The Landscape](2000), [The Key for Determining Dwarfs or The Last Travel of Lemuel Gulliver](2003), and a segment for the pan-European film, [Visions of Europe](2004).
