Program Note
Seen through the eyes of two children and told in four parts running parallel to the four seasons, Kasaba tells of a Turkish family set in a mall town. The first part takes place in the 11-year-old daughter′s primary school. The second part is in spring, and the young girl and her younger brother journey to the corn field where their family awaits for them. The third part has the two children witness the intricate and sober world of adults. The fourth part is set in the children′s home. Kasaba is a very personal, stylized and poetic black & white film made in the childhood town of the director using non-professional actors.
