Program Note
Morals follows the fractious lives of four desperate women in what has not only become one of the watershed films, but perhaps one of the first thoroughly feminist statements of Philippine Cinema’s so called second golden age.
The restoration was made possible through the use of the 35mm negative borrowed from the collection of the FDCP. The digital restoration significantly reduced the scratches, tears, and flickers but did not completely eliminate the mold that was prominent in the entirety of the film. Color grading was done to give back the natural look of the movie. The audio restoration reduced the extreme noise and distortion on the low frequency.
