A film about the life of Korean-Russian rocker Viktor Tsoi and the friendship with Mike and his wife, Natasha. Viktor builds his musical skills with the help of Mike, who provides him inspiration and supports his growth. But as their musical inclinations diverge and when Mike′s wife, Natasha shows interest in Viktor, their relationship becomes estranged. Later, when Viktor Tsoi becomes an iconic Rock star in the Soviet Union with his powerful songs of resistance, out of nowhere, Mike shows up at his show. The film’s background is the 1980s when foreign culture, American rock music introduced to Soviet Union. With all the energy of internal social and political upheaval, Soviet rock music began to take off. In the second half, the camera portraits on Mike’s loneliness in contrast to the birth of a new star. The generational shift in rock music seems to imply a social and political shift. Like a music video, Leto is a series of sensual images, continuously flowing music, and songs by characters in their moment.
