The Pilot Moscow Animation Studio is the first private animation film studio in the Soviet Union, founded in 1988 by Alexander Tatarsky, Igor Kovalev, and Anatoly Prokhorov. In 1991 Tatarsky and Prokhorov organized the Second Frog Animation Group within the framework of Pilot, to produce, distribute, and market artistic animated shorts by Russian young filmmakers working outside of Moscow. The Studio has won approximately 40 awards at international film festivals.
