Program Note
Hong Kong in 1960. Ahfei is displeased with his mother who dates young men. He too has relations with a bunch of women including a gymnasium ticket seller and a bar hostess. Finally he goes to Philippines， searching for his real mother. Instead of meeting her， however， he takes a new trip with a sailor， a former Hong Kong policeman.

WONG Kar Wai
Born in Shanghai in 1958, Wong Kar-Wai moved to Hong Kong at the age of 5. He graduated from the Hong Kong Polytechnic College in graphic design in 1980. In 1988 he made his directorial debut with As Tears Go By. His next film Days of Being Wild (1990) won five Hong Kong film awards and his new work Happy Together won the Best Director Award at the ‘97 Cannes International Film Festival.
