Program Note
On December 15, 1995, a man kills himself at the break of dawn, protesting the exploitation of workers forced into cubbyhokes, fatigued from long hours and preparatory mass-labor. In 1991, the man had been laid off from Dae-Woo corporation. His death triggered a difficult and long struggle for labor-justice. This film focuses on labor struggles since 1993 and the promises that president Kim Young Sam′s office did not Keep : the reinstatement of workers unjustly laid off during the military regime and reparations for corporate acts of violence.
Director

LEE Ji-Young
Born in 1966. Lee Ji-young graduated from Korea University, majoring in psychology. She is currently a member of Labor News Production. She made her debut with Labor News16, Video Magazine(1994). She has made several documentaries, such as The Law of Labor(1995) and General Strike 1,2(1997). Her film, The Fired Workers(1996), was screened for the Wide Angle section at the 1st Pusan International Film Festival.
