While investigating the murder of brewery owner Yang Dalsu, detective Oh becomes embroiled in a case that dates back to the Korean War involving his mistress, Sohn Jihye, her husband, Hwang Bawu, and the commander of a guerilla unit at the time, Gang Manho. For them, the war serves as the root cause of a murder that has forever altered their lives. A film about a military expedition that turns ugly and destroys nearly everything in its wake. The original was heavily censored upon release, but was later restored into a 158-minute film that has been hailed as Lee Doo Yong’s masterpiece.

Lee debuted with the melodrama The Lost Wedding Veil (1970), but became known for his six taekwondo action films, particularly Manchurian Tiger (1974). His interest in shamanism led to The Early Years (1977), Muldori Village (1979) and The Hut (1980). By the 1980s, he was making some of his best works including The Last Witness (1980), The Trouble-Solving Broker (1981), Mulleya Mulleya (1983), The Oldest Son (1984), and Eunuch (1986).
