Mothers of long-term prisoners of conscience currently suffer an excruciating oppression from the absence of their sons. Donned in the color purple to express the anguish in their lives, these women unflinchingly unveil the scars of Korean modern reality. 89 year-old Ko Bong-Hee, 67 year-old Choi In-Hwa, and the 94 year-old mother of Kim Sun-Myung, who spent 45 years in isolation as a prisoner of conscience for violating the National Security Law, are all mothers who spend each day in pain, fighting for the release of their sons.
