Program Note
A personal essay on Korean Cinema. This documentary discerns the intimate connection between modern Korean history and the development of Korean cinema. Director Jang Sun-Woo untangles the wires co-meshing nation and cinema, questions what "Korean" was, is and could be, and illuminates the missing pages in Korean film history. Most significantly, this piece celebrates past and present
films which have strategized to overcome the circumscriptions of film censorship.
