Legendary rock star Marianne (Tilda Swinton) is on vacation with her film director husband Paul in the Mediterranean. She communicates with him only using her body language and facial expression in order to save her voice. Marianne’s ex-lover and music producer Harry unexpectedly visits with his daughter Penelope. He's happy to see Marianne again but Penelope niggles at her by hanging around Paul. As their history unfolds, an innocent visit to recall their happy past becomes one of jealousy, desire, and danger. A Bigger Splash—the second film that Luca Guadagnino and Tilda Swinton have worked on together, after I Am Love in 2009—is a remake of director Jacques Deray’s La Piscine (1969) starring Alain Delon. Guadagnino’s new version is a complex love triangle with tragedy caused by darker human desires contrasting with the beautiful Italian beach. Swinton's Marianne dazzles with typical charisma, while Ralph Fiennes and Matthias Schoenaerts play the two men competing for her.
