Lucia lives on a small farm with her mother and stepfather, waiting for her younger brother’s return. When a man who is shot arrives on the scene, the truth behind a dark family secret is revealed. This is a gloomy masterpiece that explores cruelly the complex family history and its shameful secret. It seems to declare that the world is not such a sunny place and that a happy family is only fiction. Each sequence is structured immaculately and the signature of the director is manifested clearly while the appropriate use of sound and the rear are consistent in producing the effect of expanding space as if the frame is branching out.
