Francisca marries the aristocrat Jose Augusto, but his love turns out to be an immature one, close to torture. As the last installment in the ‘Thwarted Love’ tetralogy, this film is an adaptation of a novel by Portugal’s modernist novelist Augustina Bessa-Luis.
