Program Note
Father Billy is forced to take a sabbatical by his superiors when he is discovered telling inappropriate parables to his flock. He goes canoe trip with Robbie, his sister’s ex-boyfriend. When night approaches, they realize they have lost their way and that's when things get weird. [The Catechism Cataclysm] is one of the weirdest films that I’ve ever seen in my life. It doesn’t seem to have much to offer for the audience who want to be entertained. The characters especially father Bill played by Steve Little are very bizzarre. The story is preposterous and doesn’t make much sense. The director Todd Rohal doesn’t seem to care what people would think of his film at all. But the bizzarreness of the film and boldness of the director are the power to draw audience into the film. It is stange, unique and pleasantly surprising. And that is something you can’t see everyday. If you want an unexpected pleasure, [The Catechism Cataclysm] is definitely a film to see.
