Program Note
The whale that used to spray water when people called in times of drought is gone. A man with a suffocating job runs into a girl he used to call the whale. A contrast between the miraculous force of nature and the harshness of city life in a mixture of real action and animation. (HUH Kyoung)
Director
YU Hye-kyung
Born in Suncheon, Korea, YU studied pedagogy and now studies media production in the graduate program of KGIT. This is YU’s first film.
OH Kyung-joo
After studying mass communication and journalism, Oh worked in the drama production team of KBS. He participated in producing TV dramas such as [For a young man in the neighborhood](2006), [Heavenly couple](2007) and [The Innocent Woman](2007).
OH Seok-kyun
While studying at Dong-Ah Institute of Media and Arts, Oh produced a documentary [Experiencing the compact room] and participated in KBI Film & Video Festival organized by KOCCA in 2004. In 2009, Oh directed a short film [The Day I lost my tooth].
Chet LEE
As an artist and culture planner, Chet Lee held three solo exhibitions and runs a company that provides culture contents. Lee planned Hangul Transformer exhibition and 2009 JIMFF Media Art Project. Lee also directed a short film [Two People] in 2009. .
