Right after Saddam Hussein’s regime collapsed, two Kurdish resistance soldiers found a lost Iraqi boy named ‘Saddam’, whose image, like an apparition, never shakes off. One sees a poor lost child, while the other sees the incarnation of a painful past of his family destroyed by the Iraqis. The merciless genocide of the Kurds committed by the Hussein regime left deep wounds. Revenge is justified; forgiveness and reconciliation are luxury. So the journey taking the boy back home becomes a story to restore the lost, missing humanism, which is met at the end to open a possibility of co-existence. (CHO Young-jung)
