Juan Fernandez Soler and his lover Maria Jose de Castro hit a cyclist while driving. There are no witnesses, so they make a run for it. After reading in the paper the cyclist died, they suffer misgivings and guilt. Through a portrayal of incompetent and corrupt intellectuals, and a contrast of the poor and the rich, this Spanish masterpiece throws criticism upon the Franco Regime’s dark and stagnant society. It will be the first time that this Spanish classic will be screened in Korea. (RHEE Soue-won)
