Program Note
Director Jan h?ebejk deals with the rather sensitive topic about people who cooperated with the communist government in the past. Pavel, a distinguished psychiatrist is about to receive an award for his life’s work and role as a dissident, but his son-in-law Ludek who is employed on a documentary crew filming Pavel is resentful of the family. Ludek exposes documents proving Pavel’s dark secrets, which have the power to completely destroy Pavel’s entire life. Inspired by [The Lives of Others], this movie won the Prize of the Ecumenical Jury in the Berlin International Film Festival. (Jay JEON)
