Program Note
After a secret agent, Soohyun’s fiancee is murdered, he can not forgive himself for not being able to protect her. He tracks a serial killer who murdered her, and his most brutal revenge begins. When the expurgated edition of [I saw the Devil] was released in August, people thought, ‘how cruel it could be?’ But the majority of the audience was shocked by its brutality. As the bloody battle between two antagonists played by Lee Byung Hun and Choi Min Sik are getting out of control, some of the audience walked out of the theater in the middle of screening. Now, the harsher version of director’s cut is coming to Pusan. If you think its expurgated edition was gory and brutal wait until you see this director’s cut. And consider that a warning. (PAK Dosin)
