[My Sweet Baby] is another story of a mother and the sequel to the director’s previous piece, [Mother…]. The movie is based on the director Ryu Mirye’s personal story. The documentary director captures 10 years of her life, including her marriage, the birth of her 3 children and how she raised them. The film represents the hundreds of mothers in the world, trying to reach out to the world. This movie conveys the director’s heartfelt message to all our mothers’ husbands, to their colleagues, to their mothers, and to the children. A story of a mother sounds familiar but in reality, it is an untold story. The role of a mother is mostly taken for granted but in reality, mothers face desperate struggles on a daily basis. There are some beautiful moments in the movie that were possible only because it’s created by a mother. The narration almost as the director’s personal account and the scenes that capture the most decisive moments of her 3 children within a 10-year period were possible only because it was seen through a mother’s eyes.
