The film focuses on the lives of rubbish collectors. Working from 11 in the evening till mid-day, their aim is not to leave traces but to clean those that people leave behind. Although they call themselves as raccoons, who scavenge though piles of rubbish, their stories are not so different from ours. A mother who chose the job so she could spend time with her child during daytime; a son who couldn’t stay by his mother’s deathbed from working several shifts; a father who argues constantly because of no financial aid policy. Rubbish collectors are not the cleaners looked down upon by society, but rather a representation of our lives. The movie features interviews and narrations of 7 rubbish collectors, which introduces the audience to their private lives as same as ours and their experiences of an unfair social system. In some ways, their positive attitude to endure the struggles they face is something we must respect and uphold in our own lives. (HONG Hyosook)
