For Decades the government has failed find support to construct the radioactive waste disposal facility as part of its public enterprise. This movie reveals the behind the scenes story of how Buan-gun was selected for this project. What was the reason for the residents, who have never attended a public assembly, had given up on their business to oppose this project for 3 years? It started when the governor of Buan unilaterally applied for the project. Primarily, children’s future safety was their main reason but there is another vital reason behind their opposition. It was the undemocratic decision making process employed by the central government and the governor. Since then, the project was reassigned to Kyung-ju but due to safety matters, it has been postponed for two years. This is a consequence of not taking the necessary measures before finalizing a decision. However, Buan incident did not mark the end of the struggle. The Candlelight vigil against U.S. beef and the Four-River Restoration Project are a few examples of ‘barbaric weapons’ that still exist today.
