Majored in film studies at the New York University, Martin Scorsese is an American film director who represents the 20th century, being recognized by most critics and audiences. He made a wide range of works not only commercially successful but also retaining authorship, headed by [Taxi Driver], [Good Fellas] (1990), [Casino] (1995), and [Gangs of New York] (2002). However, his films evaded the Oscar, until [The Departed] in 2006. His other masterpiece [Raging Bull] (1980) was placed on many top ten lists by critics as one of the major works of ‘80s. He also directed Michael Jackson’s music video [Bad] in 1987.
