Program Note

Wyatt and Billy take a long journey across America on motorcycles. The bikers join a lawyer named George who is sick of his life, and is subsequently murdered during the journey. The film created sensations after its release in the U.S., reflecting the liberal spirits of young people in America during the late 1960s.

Familiar to Korean audiences as an actor who has appeared nearly 200 TV shows and films rather than a filmmaker, Dennis Hopper is, in fact, known as an enfant-terrible in Hollywood. Although his directorial debut feature [Easy Rider] was a success and a masterpiece of the New American Cinema, he drifted quite a while due to the failure of [The Last Movie] (1971) which portrayed his own life. After succeeding in making a comeback as an actor in [Blue Velvet] (1986), he made a few films during the 1980s. However, he has worked more vigorously as an actor since 1990s.
