Raya Martin’s second film deals with Filipino colonial era. Showing the American colonization era after his first approach to the Spanish colonization era, the film mimics the news reel and silent films of the early 20th century. With classically serene black and white imagery and the set which is gross but elaborate in its own terms; this experimentation goes back and forth between history and fiction and probes into Filipino film history.
