Program Note
Winner of this year’s the best director award at Cannes. Pepping, who helps scoundrels for petty cash, lands a big gig to make money for his wedding. He is supposed to abduct a prostitute who didn’t pay her loans and teach her a lesson, but it turns into a murder case. [Kinatay] unkindly disturbs its audiences with excessive brutality, crude and dim imagery, nerve-breaking noises, which may be a part of the reality director Mendoza wanted to render.
