A family remains in their island village home despite an eviction order. Animals perish en masse amid a mood of ominous doom, yet women reverse their tragic states with songs of resistance and life. The tale of an island seized by an unknown epidemic unravels in an unusual atmosphere of omnipotent narration, mysterious situations and somewhat slow characters who pass on God’s will. A film depicting man as sinner and woman as savior, this is the eighth feature by Reha Erdem, whose Times and Winds(2006) and Kosmos(2010) were introduced at BIFF. (RHEE Souewon)
