An accordion player moves in to a boarding house three years after a fire and subsequent plastic surgery has remade him as Min-gu from In-suk. Hearing him play the same song over and over, his rich neighbor’s second wife, Hwang Jae-sook, is aghast. It is the same song her former fiance played, who she left three years earlier. Though she begs for it, In-suk cannot forgive her betrayal and continues tormenting her. A Student Boarder depicts the lonely finale of vengeful obsession. The hit song by Choi Hee-joon in the background brings a warm touch to the cold film. (NAM Dong-chul)
