Two couples, two houses, one new subdivision. The fortysomething newcomers are greeted as unwelcome interlopers by the established neighborhood or prefab homes, and are soon subjected to a vigorous and calculated game of misunderstanding meant to drive wedges amongst them. The locals fan the fires of suspicion and hatred, and soon the new couples are upping the stakes themselves. Hindemith is an absurdist comedy-drama about individuality and our perception of it. The couples’ similarities?both social and psychological?are at the root of their mutual, growing hatred for each other, which is complicated by simmering romantic feelings.
