Program Note
Without particular cinematic devices or intervention, this documentary grabbed considerable attention by gazing at an old building to look into the frozen era. Once called “Bakhmaro,” this former hotel building features the styles and designs of the Soviet era. Later used as the office of the city council and a political party, now this shabby building accommodates a Chinese restaurant. The fixed cameras picture the atmosphere of the irrational time and reality by capturing the past traces found within the building and observing the mundane movements of people inside or around the building.
