Drawing on the film noir genre, the movie is a detective story that combines modern 3-D animation, pop-art and comic strip elements into the story of a man who is searching for his true identity. The story begins in Los Angeles, where the main character wakes up lying on the ground next to a dead policeman. In a state of amnesia, he realizes that the man was murdered and that he is probably the one who committed the crime. Our hero attempts to jump-start his memory by piecing together what little he can find out about his life. The plot and the ambiance evoke the spirit of American detective stories from the fifties, showing nocturnal, rainy Los Angeles with plenty of action, violence and sex, punctuated with bizarre characters and the sudden plot twists that are typical of this genre.
