Program Note
“Mirush is the story of a boy on the run. It is a story of a boy who longs for a father he cannot remember, but of whom he has created clear images. It is also a story of turning your back on what you desire the most, in order to become yourself.” ? Marius Holst In a film about creating one’s own future, Mirush leaves Kosovo in search of his absent father. Massive debts to the Albanian mafia sent him to Norway, and now with a new life and a new family, the re-emergence of his past in any form is an unwelcome development. Without knowing Mirush is his son, he hires him to work in his restaurant and the two begin to form a bond. The father must find a way to reconcile his feelings for his son with his new life, and Mirush must re-evaluate his misguided perceptions.
