Anchor Light is a melodrama about one woman’s hardships after she leaves her seaside village to move to Seoul. In-sun, the daughter of a poor fisherman, wants to make money and study in Seoul, and so she follows Chul-su who paid back her family debt. But, she ends up his mistress in Seoul. With the help of a train conductor, Ok-bun, she manages to escape from Chul-su, but her future looks bleak. The ending, where the film warmly embraces the woman’s struggles, is deeply touching.
