Program Note
A fisherman, Yeongcheol, who lives in an island, arrives at a city in the hot summer to show a white shark to his friend, Jungu. Jungu who is busy with gambling somewhere does not show up, and the shark in Yeongcheol`s bag is going bad. Yusu, who Yeongcheol ran into at a park, is released from prison and wandering from street to street not knowing where he can find his house. A crazy woman, Eunsuk praying for rain in the middle of the park under glaring sunshine starts to chase Yeongchel and Yusu. She thinks the stink of the rotting shark is her dead baby`s smell. A dead shack comes to a city. It is going bad, but no one concerns it. A crazy woman claims that it is her baby, while a mid-age man of suicidal attempt things that that bad smell comes from his own body. Putrefying shark causes a chain of misunderstanding by spreading a smell of decay in a small place of city. This remarkable film shows sensitivity on absurdity of everyday life by complex, rich symbols.
