Program Note
The agonizing subject of child prostitution is at the center of [Holly], the debut film from writer Guy Moshe. The complex relationship between 12-year-old Holly and American antiquities dealer Patrick begins when they meet in a Cambodian bar. Holly is waiting for her stock to rise as a virgin for sale, Patrick is trying to keep out of further gambling trouble. When she suddenly vanishes after being successfully trafficked, he goes on a hunt to find her and aid her quest for freedom. Lulled into a complacent expat mindset, Patrick is awakened by his search for the impoverished girl who`s been told her only worth is in her body. Shot in Phnom Phen`s notorious K11 red light district, the film is as brutal and harsh as it is emotionally captivating and beautiful. The film is part of Priority Films` K11 Project, dedicated to raising global awareness of child trafficking.
