The semi-autobiographical In America tells the story of a family of Irish immigrants trying to succeed in New York. Written by Jim Sheridan with his daughters Kirsten and Naomi, and shot in the aftermath of 9/11, the film is a heart-warming story about a family coming to terms with the loss of a child. The film was a huge critical and commercial success and has gone on to become the most successful Sheridan film of the last ten years.
