Program Note
An uninvited, unknown guest turns up at Tereza’s wedding. With his appearance, the ‘worse’ time in the bride’s “for better, for worse” marriage vows seems set to begin. Secrets emerge from the past and the wedding party gradually drifts into a nightmare…
Honeymoon deals with a wedding that gets spoiled by returning to the past. However, the in-depth concern is the ‘bullying’ problem, which is rising as a global issue of importance. Each partner in the wedding couple, both marrying for the second time, has dark truths inside despite their serene and attractive appearances. The crisis they encounter brings their vulnerability to the surface. The most noticeable point of the film is the power to retain the uneasiness, aroused by the unknown man at the beginning, until the end. The cliff-hanging suspense up to the end is remarkable in this new work by veteran Czech director Jan H?ebejk. (RHEE Soue-won)
