As the actress Alina’s last shooting day is around the corner, the married director Paul wants to shoot a scene where Alina is naked, to celebrate his intimate relationship with her. He modifies the screenplay to satisfy his capricious impulse but as the situation suddenly changes, he has no choice but to change his mind once again. The film is characterized by a series of long takes and is a “film about film” which takes a look at different aspects of cinema. At the beginning, a sequence showing the man and woman in a car from its back seat is a long take of about 7 minutes. In addition, the scene where the characters discuss the increase of reality enabled by digital technology lasts more than 10 minutes. The story takes place around the relationship between a director and an actress and the two characters’ debates express the filmmaker’s efforts to come up with proper cinematic forms. Corneliu Porumboiu, who emerged as a leader of the Rumanian New Wave by winning the Golden Camera award at the Cannes International Film Festival with 12:08 East of Bucharest in 2006, proves that with this, his third feature, that he is full of cinematic experiments.
