Program Note
Ho-jun is a college lecturer who lives an isolated life with dissatisfaction for society. He is locked in his bathroom because of a broken door lock. A missionary, Kye-sang, happens to save him. Since then, Kye-sang started visiting Ho-jun, who started opening his mind to Kye-sang. They begin to depend on themselves and step forward. When a lazy and incompetent skepticist and a faithful missionary of one minor religion meet, is communication between them possible? Host & Guest questions the possibility of communication between two outsiders who might detest each other more than the extreme left and the extreme right. Taking the two main characters′ view point in turn without any cinematic decoration, this film pictures their process of change as they accept a stranger into their lives. In this ultrafashionable era, it dreams that the film should lead us to a long-lost conversation with classical belief and methods, which makes it very rare and precious. (Huh Moon-yung)
