Program Note
‘Yugong Yishan’ is an old Chinese fable that Chairman Mao used in order to break down imperialism and feudalism. It is also a club where young musicians perform, situated near Beijing. Continuously interweaving the fable, the past of socialism, and the Chinese musicians who desire freedom and creation, The Old Fool Who Moved the Mountains is an experimental documentary that questions the significance of people that run toward their ideal, their past and their future.
