Program Note
This film captures the change of beautiful seasons and follows a great wind blowing in the Gangjeong village in Jeju Island. In the course of a long fight against a naval base construction plan, people from the all over the nation have gathered to protect the Gureombi rock. Between people who want to protect and people who plan to destroy, nature mutely observes a mess people make. The director Cho follows a huge happening staged on a beautiful landscape, caused by when the demand of the national security meets the economic logics, so this film could be a story of people who struggles for stopping the construction plan and an outcry to people who don’t aware of the significant of the fight. A wind of life against the destruction and a wind of peace against war, and the film documents a wind of the history against the power and money. (HONG Hyosook)
