Busan Story Market is an IP sales marketplace where stories, the bedrock of all content, are to be transformed into various audiovisual formats such as films and series. Each year, selected IPs at Busan Story Market are showcased to domestic and international film and audiovisual industry professionals through pitching sessions and business meetings. As the significance of securing original IPs continues to grow in these industries, the anticipation and enthusiasm surrounding the Busan Story Market have only intensified.
For this year's Korean IP section, the Busan Story Market has meticulously curated 29 original IPs, including 11 books, eight webtoons, six web novels, and four stories, from a pool of 237 submissions by 110 companies. This selection process reflects a shift from previous years, where stories were more prevalent, to a greater emphasis on books and web novels—formats that have already undergone validation. Notably, despite a reduction in the submission limit per company from five to three, the total number of submissions increased by 10%, underscoring the robust demand for adapting original IPs into films. This trend highlights the growing recognition of the value of original content as a foundation for successful audiovisual projects. |
