The third feature film by Ramon Zürcher, who is recognized as Switzerland’s representative next-generation director, and the final film in his animal trilogy exploring human togetherness. A middle-aged couple, Karen and Markus, live in a rural house. When Karen’s estranged sister’s family visits, cracks begin to appear in what seemed to be a peaceful family routine. The film gradually heightens the family tension by boldly utilizing various genre conventions such as horror and psychological thriller, based on absolutely static frames and a refined form. It then takes the audience into the unfathomable depths of a family. Hidden desires and secrets collide with reality and fantasy, igniting a fire that spreads uncontrollably. In other words, it can be described as a cruel adult fairytale that recreates the desires of a family wanting a different life in a fictional yet picturesque way. (JO Ji-hoon)
